Epson has made it possible to integrate systems from GM with its latest SurePress L-6534VW UV inkjet digital label press and deliver, ‘an even more productive solution for streamlined, end-to-end, high volume label production,’ according to Marc Tinkler.

Specifically, the Epson press is able to run inline with GM’s LUW500 jumbo roll unwinder, an AVT or BST inspection station, and a GM DC330 finishing line. Such a configuration has been developed to provide an, ‘integrated, productive and streamlined label printing and finishing solution to meet high volume label production demands,’ according to Epson.

Moreover, this new capability is said to be ‘ideal’ for label converters looking to improve operational efficiency for longer print runs, while maintaining the versatility needed for shorter print jobs.

Mr Tinkler, head of product marketing, commercial and industrial printing at Epson Europe, commented, ‘The addition of these connection options means we can offer our customers an even more productive solution for streamlined, end-to-end, high volume label production.’

The SurePress L-6534VW UV inkjet digital label press prints at speeds up to 50m/min, with UV LED pinning between colours enabling sharper text and smoother vignettes to be produced. The press upports a wide range of paper and film label substrates from 80-320 microns in thickness, with a printable width of 330mm. Nozzle verification technology detects blocked nozzles and performs automatic head cleaning to reduce wastage and downtime. The printheads, inks and web control system are all developed, manufactured and serviced by Epson.

The GM LUW500 unwind module is fully synchronised to the press with stepless electronic tension setting, roll pick up from the floor and an easy-to-use graphic touchscreen. DC330 can be operated as a fully integrated inline converter or offline for flexible finishing options.
